What’s Concerta, and how can it be used?

Concerta is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy. Concerta could be used by itself or with other drugs.

It’s not known if Concerta is safe and effective in children younger than six decades old.

Which are the potential side effects of Concerta?

Concerta can cause serious unwanted effects such as:

WARNING When taking Concerta

CONCERTA® should be given cautiously to patients with a history of drug addiction or alcoholism. Chronic abusive use may result in marked tolerance and psychological dependence with varying degrees of abnormal behavior. Careful supervision is required during withdrawal from violent use because acute depression may occur. Withdrawal following chronic therapeutic utilization can unmask symptoms of the underlying disease that may require follow-up.

CONCERTA® is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. ) Each extended-release pill for once-a-day oral treatment includes 18, 27, 36, or 54 mg of methylphenidate HCl USP and is intended to have a 12-hour length of impact.

CONCERTA® should be administered orally once daily in the morning with or without meals.

Patients New To Methylphenidate

Patients Currently Using Methylphenidate
The suggested dose of CONCERTA® for individuals taking methylphenidate twice daily or three times per day at doses of 10 to 60 mg/day is offered in Table 2. Dosing recommendations are based on the present dose routine and clinical judgment. Conversion dosage shouldn’t exceed 72 milligrams each day.
